Computers

I never knew that the invention of computers went so far back. It is amazing to see that people had ideas for things hundreds of years before they were possible. Also where would we be now with out wars. I hate war and I think it is a mostly unnecessary waist of lives and taxes, but would I be doing this right now if my relatives hadn't been killed for what they believed and had other countries try and stand up to Hitler. It is just crazy to think that something that is such a part of our every day lives and many people including myself have become so dependent on may not have ever been without war.

TV

I checked out the MZTV site and it was so kewl. I couldnt get the interactive thing to load even though I loaded all of the requirements so I dono what was going on there. I especially love all the pictures from the 1939 World's Fair.

As most people who know me know I love TV. I have ot on almost all the time even just for the noise. I cant even fall asleep now without it on because my brain wont shut off. Right now i am watching President Obama give his non state of the union State of the Union address. I dont know why they just dont call it what it is but whatever, tangent. The Television is definitely one of my favorite inventions and now the DVR to go with it makes it even better. I am going to go watch TV (the RuPaul clips) on my computer right now.

Christina Hung

The infomercial she did was really interesting commentary on the state of genetically engineering humans and at the same time very amusing. The human caviar was an especially interesting concept. It is so weird and scary to think that scientists and doctors really are doing this kind of thing. It really makes me think what I would do if I knew I could make sure my kids didnt have the same problems I do.

I have no idea how she came up with the idea to do art with bacteria but it is such a different idea. It is even more interesting because she doesnt have a science background. It was also kewl to see the trial and error she had while working with this kind of material.

Radio

I think the way radio keeps having to reinvent it self every so often is very interesting. There is the technological side that eventually made it a personal home use option and then the portable with the transistor radio. Also the format part that has has to compete with TV and now satellite radio.

I had never actually heard all of the War of the World broadcast. It was so interesting and amusing to see how they kept saying things like a meteor has landed in NJ and now back to the music. Also I can see how if you were just having the radio on as background noise it could be very alarming to hear all that stuff going on. Also with it being such a new form of entertainment people werent used to anything like that happening without it being real. I think in todays world where once you hear something on the radio or tv you get on the internet to check it out further it wold be easyer to have something like that not produce the same mass hystaria. On the other hand with all the various forms of media and entertainment very few people gather as a family to even watch something on TV.

Flip Book

So it didn't turn out exactly how I wanted but I think it is pretty good for a first attempt. I came up with the geometric shape idea (I have loved these things since I was little) but it wasnt looking like I wanted it to so I switched concepts and went with a morphing of the circles thing. I used a technique that my mom taught me to copy an image with out drawing it since I cant draw. The video is also the first thing I did with this kind of program so I think that turned out well even though I probably made it harder then it had to be. I think the video says it is 4:25 because that was how long the song I used was before I cut it but it is really only like 21 seconds. I thought I was going to enjoy this project more then I did, but it got frustrating fast because it was going so slowly.

Singing in the Rain

I think the start of rock and roll and the 60's are the two biggest things that influenced the new version in A Clockwork Orange. They are things that allowed for greater freedom of expression and a change in many peoples perception of expectations in society.

I love movies and it is so interesting to see the technological advances overtime that allow for different kinds of story telling.

Digital Sense - Wired article

This Wired article is such a kewl idea although I dont understand at all how they are doing it. I dont know how mainstream this will eventually become because it probably will have to be smaller and "idiot proof" to really work but who knows. I have heard about things kinda similar to this over the past few years that are also in development and I guess it will be a race to market and popularize once they get the technology down.

Cynthia Lawson

When she showed her drawing of the computer it was further proof that you can be an amazing artist without being amazing at drawing. I really enjoyed her layered photography, it was really an interesting was to show the passage of time. Some of the things she is doing and have done are really what I love about art, that it can be anything you want.
