Final Project

This is my video art project. I hope you enjoy it. I really tried to concentrate on the sound and the visual effects as opposed to the actual song being the focus. I made many versions using different cuts and effects but I think this one is the best.

Performance Art

Im sure it was quite obvious that I was very nervous while doing my performance art piece. I am just glad it is over and it didnt go to horribly. I think everyone did such a great job. Some of the things people did were so creative. I guess we are supposed to recap what we did so yeah. I was trying to go for a technology keeps me in a safe not having to really connect with people bubble. Also that it trapts us and we dont really communicate the way peopel used to in the past. I dont know if that came across. I stuck bubble wrap signs on me with all of the different technology that i use and then wraped myself in a big piece of bubble wrap then I went to check my mail. While all this was going on a song called Soundtrack of My Life by Less Than Jake was playing. The song lyrics were actually relivent to the point I was trying to get across but Im not sure people could understand them only hearing them one time. Here they are:

I'm on a mission
To see what’s been missing
My favorite song is on repeat
But it’s just not helping me
My eyes have been wider but never been brighter
Something else is going on
I need a reminder of why I feel this way

There’s a fine line between
Living a lie and feeling alive
There are times that I've been
Looking from the outside in
And here I go again
Falling behind losing my mind
I'm pretending it’s alright
Listening to the soundtrack of my life

Wo-oh
Listening to the soundtrack of my life

I still believe in
Facing all my demons
And everything that people promise
Everything I’ve always wanted
My mouth has been open
My words have been stolen
It may have been used against me
It’s starting to affect me
And now I feel this way

There’s a fine line between
Living a lie and feeling alive
There are times that I’ve been
Looking from the outside in
And here I go again
Falling behind losing my mind
I'm pretending it’s alright
Listening to the soundtrack of my life

Wo-oh
Listening to the soundtrack of my life

And it goes like this…

And it takes me back…

And it spins around
And round and round
And round and round
And it goes around
And always leads to black

There’s a fine line between
Living a lie and feeling alive
There are times that I’ve been
Looking from the outside in
And here I go again
Falling behind losing my mind
I'm pretending it’s alright
Listening to the soundtrack of my life

Wo-oh
Listening to the soundtrack of my life

Xerox piano

Here is my piano fingers xerox project. I think that it turned out well eventhough it is not exactly what I origionaly planned on. I dont think anything ever is really going to come out exactly like I envision it to be in the beginning.

Grid Art

I guess I misinterpreted what we were supposed to do. I thought we just had to find a grid and make something. Before class though I had a feeling that what I did wasnt quite right but I thought doing something 3D would be kewl. I think what I did is open to interpretation as to whether it is a fly getting revenge or being swatted.

Computers

I never knew that the invention of computers went so far back. It is amazing to see that people had ideas for things hundreds of years before they were possible. Also where would we be now with out wars. I hate war and I think it is a mostly unnecessary waist of lives and taxes, but would I be doing this right now if my relatives hadn't been killed for what they believed and had other countries try and stand up to Hitler. It is just crazy to think that something that is such a part of our every day lives and many people including myself have become so dependent on may not have ever been without war.

TV

I checked out the MZTV site and it was so kewl. I couldnt get the interactive thing to load even though I loaded all of the requirements so I dono what was going on there. I especially love all the pictures from the 1939 World's Fair.

As most people who know me know I love TV. I have ot on almost all the time even just for the noise. I cant even fall asleep now without it on because my brain wont shut off. Right now i am watching President Obama give his non state of the union State of the Union address. I dont know why they just dont call it what it is but whatever, tangent. The Television is definitely one of my favorite inventions and now the DVR to go with it makes it even better. I am going to go watch TV (the RuPaul clips) on my computer right now.

Christina Hung

The infomercial she did was really interesting commentary on the state of genetically engineering humans and at the same time very amusing. The human caviar was an especially interesting concept. It is so weird and scary to think that scientists and doctors really are doing this kind of thing. It really makes me think what I would do if I knew I could make sure my kids didnt have the same problems I do.

I have no idea how she came up with the idea to do art with bacteria but it is such a different idea. It is even more interesting because she doesnt have a science background. It was also kewl to see the trial and error she had while working with this kind of material.
